Its strategic position means that Leeds is perhaps the UK’s best connected city by road.
Leeds is situated halfway between London and Edinburgh on the A1(M). It is also halfway between east and west coasts, linked to Liverpool, Manchester, the M6 and Hull by the M62.
The A1(M), which begins minutes from Wellington Place, connects Leeds with London, Milton Keynes, Leicester, Nottingham, Sheffield and Newcastle.
For car commuters, Car Share Leeds has been set up to provide a free car sharing service for people who live in and around Leeds.
The City Car Club offers local car rental by the hour for visits and meetings if required. Cars can be picked up at locations throughout the city centre.
