Enjoy the Outside with BBOWT

This May, the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust have a series of activities and events planned for people and families to enjoy.

Saturday 5 May 10am-12noon Letcombe Regis, Oxon

BIRD IDENTIFICATION WALK

An opportunity to observe some of the birds of Letcombe Valley Community Nature Reserve and to find out about them in the company of local expert Ian Taylor. Warm clothes, binoculars and sensible shoes recommended. 3 miles on gentle terrain with some uneven ground and wooden steps. Admission: Donations welcome. Children welcome. No dogs please. FAMILY FUN - MEET THE NEWTS

Come along to Blenheim Farm Community Nature Reserve for an afternoon of wildlife discovery in the underwater world of Blenheim Farm pond. Dip into the pond with the help of pond ecologist, Rod d’Ayala, and help to record all the species that have made this habitat their home. Wear sensible footwear for walk to reserve. DYS: BUTTERFLIES

Martin Harvey, Invertebrate Ecologist leads this introduction to butterfly ecology, identification and natural history. We will use a mix of indoor activities, presentations plus a field session to explore this topic. Information will be provided on the 40+ butterflies found in Berks Bucks and Oxon. BOOKING ESSENTIAL. WALK - FLOWERS AND BUTTERFLIES AT ASTON UPTHORPE DOWNS

A walk to explore this beautiful chalk grassland. If the sun shines, we may see grizzled and dingy skippers as well as small blue and small heath butterflies. Distance 2 miles on uneven ground. Louise King, Conservation Grazing Officer, leads this workshop which gives an introduction to why we have grazing animals. Find out the important role of livestock in our conservation management.
