Haven scoops top award

01/05/2009

Haven Products is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Scottish not-for-profit organisation Momentum, which promotes equal chances, equal choices and equal futures to more than 2,000 disabled and socially-excluded people every year throughout Scotland.

It operates as a commercially-viable business providing meaningful employment for disabled people from three key sites across Scotland. Four out of five of the firm’s workforce has a disability.

The Edrington Group, which is wellknown for its whisky brands The Famous Grouse and The Macallan, has been outsourcing elements of its production process to Haven Products since 2003.

The awards recognise packaging suppliers for their contribution to the success of The Edrington Group, measured on product quality, delivery, reliability and flexibility.

David Whyte, managing director of Haven Products, said: “This is a fantastic achievement to come top of the league of suppliers, and high praise indeed for our employees. As a social firm, we operate to the highest standards and the award is recognition of this.”

David Donaldson, supply chain director for The Edrington Group, added: “It was really pleasing to see Haven Products continue their improvement journey and actually come top of our supplier performance ‘league table’ over the past 15 months.

“We have developed our business with Haven over the last six years and found them not only to be a well-run, professional organisation, but one which shares our values of integrity, involvement, independence and innovation.”

Pauline Graham, chief executive of Social Firms Scotland, of which Haven Products is a member, said: “This award is testimony to the high quality of services delivered by the social firm sector. Haven is an exemplar company which incorporates the principles of enterprise, empowerment and employment for people under-represented in the labour market.”
