Birchwood Park is the Best Business Park in the Region
To help drivers save money and to understand how small improvements to their car and journey planning can help make the world a bit greener, Birchwood Park hosted a Sustainable Travel Day on Thursday 23rd July. Our travel co-ordinator, Esstta Hayes joined forces with Warrington Borough Council, the Energy Savings Trust (EST) and Love Eco to create a range of displays to help promote tips to save money and CO2 on commuter travel, around the home, and in everyday activities, this included:
Judges praised managing director and 2008 Warrington Business Person of the Year, Jonathan Walsh, and his team for “a great year, securing deals with impressive occupiers as well as adding to the park’s existing amenities”.
In 2008, MEPC Birchwood Park let 160,000 sq ft of space across over 50 deals, 66,887 sq ft of which was let in December, which proved to be one of the estate’s most successful months ever. During the year, new occupiers at the estate included Broker Assistance, Rolls-Royce, UKAEA, Halcrow and Vaultex UK.
In January, MEPC Birchwood Park became the first in the MEPC group and one of the first few estates in the country to feature a hotel, with the opening of an £8 million, 103 bedroom Ramada Encore.
MEPC Birchwood Park beat off competition for the Insider award, from Property Alliance Group and Argent.
Said Walsh at the ceremony at Manchester Central: "MEPC won Insider’s Property Deal of the Year award when it acquired Birchwood Park from UK AEA in 1998.
“Since then, the estate has gone from strength to strength, establishing itself as the north west’s leading out of town business estate, presenting stiff competition to Manchester and Liverpool.
“Insider’s Commercial Developer of the Year award is the latest in a long line of accolades that we have achieved.
“We are proud to have helped to put the Birchwood area on the map”
