Milton Park, Oxfordshire – Our sustainable approach

MEPC believes that a comprehensive and clearly articulated approach to responsible investment, development and management is an essential step to addressing the growing CSR changes that exist within the property market and indeed the wider business community. Accordingly we have adopted a sustainability policy that is practised through-out all our business communities.

The adherence to our sustainability policy is conducted through our sustainability action plan.

Through this we execute, monitor and report each quarter on a wide variety of activities which broadly fall under three categories:

  • Utility and Energy Usage
  • Water Usage
  • Waste & Recycling

In partnership with our customers, we continually seek to pursue new and better ways of reducing the impact of the built environment under our control. The benefits manifest themselves in cost efficiencies, business improvements and community engagement.

MEPC’s people are trained on a variety of Health & Safety, Risk Management and environmental issues and are encouraged to continually trial new ideas.

The aim is to be at the forefront of industry thinking so that businesses and the people that work for them can themselves best pursue their own CSR ambitions.

At Milton Park, we work closely with the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire & Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust (BBOWT), along with other local organisations to ensure we maintain a range of different habitats which can support biodiversity on the science park. We have two shuttle buses which are fuelled by plant oil, and our partnership with Mitie Waste Management ensures that around 60% of the waste materials from all of our multi-occupied buildings is recycled.
