Granta Park is located close to the village of Great Abington, eight miles south-east of Cambridge, in an area free of the traffic congestion which affects the north side of Cambridge. It is adjacent to the A11 which provides fast and easy access to Junction 9 of the M11.

A feature of the economy of the Cambridge sub-region is the growth of high technology firms. High tech businesses now employ 43,000 people and, together with the associated University and research institutes, are the main driver of the local economy. R&D firms account for over 20% of Cambridgeshire's high tech jobs.
